Immune Cells Play A Key Role In Diabetes Prevention
Researchers have discovered that a type of immune cell, known as pancreatic islet macrophage, may help prevent type 2 diabetes. These macrophages can help promote the production of insulin during prediabetes. When the number of pancreatic islet macrophages increased, insulin production increased; when the number decreased, insulin levels fell and the prediabetes progressed to full-on type 2 diabetes.
